Teenagers or pre-teenagers often run away from their homes due to various reasons like – serious issues at home, pressure at school, low- income households, drug addiction or many more! Some kids are even forced to leave their home by their nearone’s or some are children are kidnapped….
What triggers them to run away from homes or why they get dissociated from their families is a different thing; but, at the end of the day they somehow reach to Railway stations. And obviously get easily get trapped in the cruel web of crime, abuse and illegal matters.
To save these kids from these kind of life threatening experiences, ‘Samtol’ stretches it’s helping hand towards them and try its best to send back these kids safely at their homes.
‘Samtol’ has been working for these kids since 2005 and really happy to state that, till date 1629 kids from different states of the country are successfully dropped back to their safest shelters… their homes!
The fight for sending these kids to their homes is really not easy from different perspectives. Legal issues, child’s mental stage or unwillingness for returning home may place some hurdles in his journey of way back home. To overcome these problems, Samtol receives support from Governmental and Semi- Governmental organisations, PoliceDepartment, Child Welfare Commission, Borstal Centres, Inspection Houses, Child Line etc.
Sometimes counselling of these kids also may help to change their decisions and views about returning home. After taking vigorous efforts kids are assuredly sent back to their homes before getting caught by any evil purpose.
Every year more than 400 children are returned safely due to the dedicated and endless efforts of ‘Samtol’.
Railway officials have also noticed the importance of the project and have taken into account the unbeatable work of ‘Samtol’. Therefore they are also contributing to this reverential work for the welfare of the society.
World Children’s Day
Every year on November 20, World Children’s Day is celebrated. On the occasion of the day, various programs such as student rallies, short children’s drama competitions, dances are organized jointly by the Samtol Project run by Keshav Smruti Pratishthan and the District Women and Child Development Committee. Drama competition raises awareness about child marriage, child labor, sexual exploitation.
On the occasion of Children’s Rights Day, the Child Line project run by Keshav Smruti Pratishthan burns a symbolic statue of child abuse and exploitation at the hands of students.
