EYE BANK

All over the world, there are around 39 million blind people and it is a shocking fact that India accommodates 12 millions of them. The number itself states the depth. So to sweep away the problem of blindness from society Keshav Smruti Pratishthan, R. C. Bana Foundation Trust and Acharya Vaidyakiya Pratishthan, have combinely stepped forward. The combined effort of these three institutions embodied their thoughts in the form of ‘Mangilalji Bafna Eye Bank and Clinic On 3rd March 1999. This Jalgaon based Eye Bank, is the first one from Khandesh, which has received Government authorization from Directorate of Health Services.

Eye bank offers free eye collection and transplantation surgeries. We are glad to announce that, till date with the valuable contribution of 512 eye donors, 237 blinds have retrieved their vision successfully.

Mangilalji Bafna Eye Bank and Clinic also avails the facility of eye check-ups with the help of hitech machineries. Along with this, financially backward or any others who need help are treated at affordable charges. And free cataract surgeries are done on the people who are below the poverty line.

Eyes are the priceless gift which we receive absolutely free by birth. But this free gift can illuminate someone’s life with cheerful colours, if donated after death. But the prevalent miss understandings along with incorrect information about eye donation results low eye donation rate in our country. If more eye donors come forward, then their contribution will definitely help in decreasing the number of blind persons in our country. And as the minimising blind population is the motto of Mangilalji Bafna Eye Bank and Clinic, various awareness programs including ‘Netra Chetna Yatra’ are held by the eye bank.

Joint activity of Mangilalji Bafna Eye Bank and Jalgaon Janata cooperative bank, avails the facility of free eye check-up for their members. Also financial help upto rupees 3000 is done if the members or their families of Jalgaon Janata cooperative bank operate their eyes at Mangilalji Bafna Eye Bank and Clinic. Every year around 13000 eye check-ups are done here by renowned doctors at the nominal charges.
