For any Indian ‘Kushti is not just a form of sport, but it is part of ancient subculture. Every state has its own unique relationship and attachment with this sport. For Maharashtra, persons like Khashaba Jadav are precious gems who made proud every Indian in the same field. As the whole country participates in this sport enthusiastically in this strength reflecting game, how could be Khandesh stay behind? Khandesh also has a glorious history of ‘Kushti’ and have been actively participating in the same from many years.

But the rapid urbanisation posed adverse effects on all types of cultural and traditional activities. Their popularity and practices reduced highly and an existence of some of the art forms, sports, festivals etc. was actually came to an end while, some were on their way to extinction. Kushti was one of them, whose existence was in danger  before few decades. Even then it was the attachment of Kushti which kept itself alive in people’s mind and heart, but the glory was somehow, somewhere missing. For regaining the glory and popularity of Kushti back, the strong initiative was expected and it was the Keshav Smruti Pratishthan who took it!

Keshav Smruti Pratishthan took all sincere efforts for the resurrection and preservation for traditional Indian wrestling which is commonly known as   Kushti. And all the fruitful efforts concentrated themselves in Kushti Dangal ( Wrestling Tournaments). Encouraging local guys to participate in this great traditional superactive game, was also one of the major motives behind the starting of these tournaments. These Tournaments are held in cooperation with Shri Ram Mandir Sansthan, which is the adorable place for natives.

This well planned tournament offers attractive prizes to winners. Presently state as well as renowned national level wrestlers are also actively participating in this Dangal. Every year around 250 to 300 wrestlers participate in this tournament. Continuously increasing and prominent participation of female wrestlers is commendable.
